OPERATION: Remodel and Clean Out Grandma's House

So, a couple of months ago, Mitch's parents felt that it was appropriate and necessary to put one of his grandma's into a full-time care home because of her extreme dimensia and Alzheimer's. At the time, she was living by herself in her home with her dog. The home that she was living in is the one that Mitch's mom grew up in and unfortunately has not been updated or taken care of since Mitch's mom was a little girl. The home is owned free and clear by the family trust. So, long story short...Mitch and I really were trying hard to save up enough money to buy a home when we got married. Unfortunately, the homes down in this area are just too darn expensive for us to be able to do that. Therefore, Mitch's family is allowing us to live in his grandma's home for 2-3 years without paying rent as long as we update and remodel the house. This will allow us to pay off all of our debt (hopefully) and at the same time, save up for a larger down payment so that we will qualify for a bigger loan in a couple of year.

Honestly, Mitch and I have quite the task ahead of us. There are so many belongings that must be sorted through, thrown away and/or sold. Also, there is about 20 years worth of dust and nastiness in this house. So, we are trying to at least paint and clean the front guest bedroom and bathroom enough to where it is livable and then I am currently emptying out the kitchen so that that is functional for us to. (Side note: Yesterday, I spent 3 hours cleaning out the refrigerator. I found 3 dead spiders, 1 dead fly and what looked like an entire spilt mess of melted butter that had solidified in the bottom of the refrigerator. Lovely.) Here are some pictures of what the house currently looks like, junk and all. It looks bad and really dirty, but it's a work in progress :)

Front Bedroom (where Mitch and I will be living at first)
Second Bedroom (will eventually be an office)

Master Bathroom (not much of a bathroom. Will eventually add and extra 2 feet width to it.)

Hallway leading into Master Bedroom. (Current view of old water heater closet and washer/dryer alcove. These will become one big closet. We will be demoing current closet in bedroom).
